Miserable Marketing Campaign of the Day: Miami-based ad agency Zubi seems to feel that the best way to promote karate lessons at Key Biscayne’s Academy Of Martial Arts is by suggesting to parents that there is something wrong with their lipstick-wearing, high-heel-clicking kid that only karate can correct.
I’ll just leave this here.

Transphobic ads? That’s new.

Same video, different words “Your boy may need to learn karate, because the intolerance and hate in this country is fucking ENORMOUS. It is so pervasive, companies even USE IT TO SELL THINGS!!!!”

Can we stop making it a crime for kids to be kids? There is nothing wrong with the kid doing either of these things.

I did both!!!! You re so right, growing up is when we find out about the world and ourselves, so what kind of person truly wants to LIMIT and STIFLE a child?? Nothing good has ever come of it.

People who encourage children to grow up having phobias of being seen as or behaving like the opposite sex are morons.
End of.

As a feminist and someone who worked with toddlers… BAH. I hate when adults obsess about children’s gender behavior. And it’s mostly about boys wearing make-up or something like that. At the daycare where I worked, the boys loved pushing around strollers and walking around with purses. On Purim, they wanted their faces to be made up like the girls were, but for the boys it was “we’ll have to ask your parents”. The three year old I baby-sat for loved purple and asked me to put my nail polish on him. His mother said it was fine, while stressing what the father would say.

And then there’s the Angelina Jolie thing. A picture of Shiloh in a shot haircut, shirtless and in swimming trunks was posting on ONTD, and the comments ranged “is Shiloh transgendered?” “Is Shiloh a lesbian?” “Is Angelina mistreating Shiloh?” etc etc. The girl is 4!

The only reason this kid needs to learn karate is to defend themselves from transphobic bigots.
